Depart in tranquility with funeral prearrangements

Depart in tranquility with funeral prearrangements

Isn’t it reassuring to know that you could leave this world in a way that respects your last wishes and is worry-free for your loved ones?  This is the promise that funeral prearrangements, commonly known as “prearrangements,” have kept for many years.

It’s important to know that the practice, which is completely safe, is regulated by law. Your investment is thus protected as it is held in trust no matter if you pass away 5, 10 or 20 years after signing your prearrangement contracts. CONTRACTS? Yes, prearrangements generally involve two separate contracts: one for funeral services and another for the burial. The funeral services contract provides for transportation of the body, embalming, cremation and the ceremony, among other things. The burial contract contains the terms of use and maintenance for the place that will receive the body or ashes (cemetery, columbarium or other). The Canadian Cremation Centre’s attentive advisors specialize in providing guidance and drafting funeral service contracts.

It may be surprising and disturbing at first to think about our remains and what others will do with them when our time comes. However, thinking about this is necessary, whether you’re making prearrangements or not. The first step consists in defining what’s important to you and discuss this with your immediate family in order to inform them of your preferences. You may also record how you wish for your funeral to be conducted in a document that will be safely kept in a place known to your loved ones, or go to a notary to draw up your will. Keep in mind that when this document will be read after your death, your remains will already have been transported, and your loved ones will have paid some sums. Prearrangements free your loved ones from having to worry about paying bills related to funeral services.

On this subject, what kind of funeral do you want? You’ll need to do bit of research about your requirements in order to estimate the budget needed for your final farewell. Once you have completed this step, contact the Canadian Cremation Centre to determine whether death insurance or death savings are the most convenient financing option for you. Remember that you’ll always be entitled to change, cancel or transfer your prearrangements at any time. Regardless of your religious or secular beliefs and traditions, the Canadian Cremation Centre will treat you with respect and handle your requests with dignity.

We will finalize the last details of the contract with you, either by phone or in person, at your home. We will proceed to its registration in the Government of Quebec’s register for funeral prearrangements for you. Since January 2021, all funeral planning contracts are recorded in this online register.

Planning for your death means offering your loved ones greater peace of mind in a time of sorrow. It’s also an opportunity to decide for yourself how your ceremony will be held, and thus make the moment even more meaningful for your family.

The Canadian Cremation Centre, an authorized representative of Assurant Life of Canada, can answer any questions that you may have regarding the pricing of various prearrangement options and the specifics of your contract.
